Photographer draws grizz tag

Just went to his Facebook page did not see any announcement. Could have more than one Facebook page. Next year they had one more tag to the quota if he actually Drew.

Got to thinking....Not all bad for WYO. The G&F will get $600$ from him and that bear he saves should go on next yrs quota

LAST EDITED ON Jul-26-18 AT 10:35PM (MST)[p]It's possible, I am being told, that a second non-hunter is in the top ten. We shall see...

Probably makes number 9, number 10, and number 11 on the list a lot more happy.

Granted, the odds of getting past 3 without a sow being shot are probably pretty low.

Spoke with the Division this morning. It is two separate lists. Bummer! Guess I'll cross my fingers that 7 non residents ahead of me drop out. Lol

Haha right on!!!

I actually like seeing non hunters putting money where their mouth is. I have no problem with guys like this applying for a tag. Even if it was 90% non hunters drawing the tags it would be a good thing for hunters in the long run. I hope he has the opportunity to shoot multiple grizzly's with his camera. Guys like this won't have any significant impact on the number of bears killed but it is nice to see someone else besides hunters paying for the management of the species.

Never killed a bear of any kind, and certainly not an expert, but why is everyone convinced 2 sows will get killed so quickly? I would think that for such a once in a lifetime type tag that folks would put in the effort to kill mature boars. Really just asking because I don't know.

First, areas 1-6 will close with one sow being killed.

Second, not many hunters are proficient at sexing a bear.

So this fella has tag #8. First, how many think that a sow will be killed before tag #8 in Area 1-6? If it gets down to #8, he takes his 10 days and goes filming and donates $600 to the G&F. The real unfortunate part is this from the regs?

"If an applicant cannot be contacted by the Department as outlined above, or if an applicant declines participation in the grizzly bear hunt, or if an applicant fails to submit a cashier?s check or money order for their license fee and to show proof of having earned a certificate of competency and safety in the use and handling of firearms within ten (10) consecutive days after notification by the Department, they shall no longer be eligible to participate in the current year grizzly bear hunting season."

So each non-hunter can take roughly 20+ days of the season...ouch!. There is another hunter in the field at the same time whether that be #7, #9, hell may be #10. If you've got a lucky low tag #'s be ready to go and get after it when they you are contacted. Hell there may not be time for tag # 11 to even get out in the field if folks aren't ready to get after it.

They will notifying people within the next few days, that starts the 10 day clock to get all their ducks in a row. I suspect they will get a list of 10 that accept the license and are able to fulfill the payment and hunter education requirements. Once hunters either tag out or are not successful at killing a bear they will then add to the at list. They don't wait until the first hunter is done hunting to contact the next person on the list. That is the reason for Sec 3. part (f).

I have #9 as a non res. I talked to the division this morning. Phone calls will start happening at 4pm on Monday. 3 attempts will be made to contact the hunter. If the hunter does not respond within 24 hrs they will move down the list. Once the hunter has officially be contacted they will have 10 days to pay the license fee. If it is not paid within 10 days it will go to the next number. This will all be taken care of before the season is suppose to start on Sept. The non hunters can take 10 days and then the next hunter in line would have a chance to fill the tag. But 10 days is all that would be lost. The hunt goes enough days that those 2 non hunter tags should shift out fast enough to provide a 10 days season for the next hunters in line.

How can they charge someone on the list for a license without knowing the outcome of the first hunter?

I have a print from this photographer entitled "In Pursuit" which depicts a grizzly bear chasing a rat or a prairie dog. I have tried to sell it on and off for months. No takers. His dealers claim it is worth upwards of 3k. I would gladly sell it for much less than that. Any takers.

just sayin...mh

Mulecreek you are right, the Department will get license fees from ten people before the season. Anyone who doesn't get an opportunity to hunt, will be refunded their fee.

Long story short, the non-hunter can stall the hunt for 10 days.

We knew this was going to be a circus. But the next mauling we get, we need to be sure and make the pics/vid go viral with his name attached. Let the world see that HE is responsible for a mauling, AND that a Grizz was killed by the state because of it.

From the party of HUNTIN, FISHIN, PUBLIC LAND.

Well, maybe since the quota wont be met this year. Maybe next year they will make it 2 tags, and so on and so on until the each year the quota is met.

Kind of lame.

Good God. You're as irrational as the wing nut anti hunters.

>Or, go to Alaska and kill
>a real honest wild Grizzly
>bear.

Would love to give that another go.
$$$$$$$$$$$$

But Wyoming grizzlies are docile and easy to kill.

Hope the photographer gets a lot of pics in 10 days cause anything before or after his 10 days is hunting out of season lol!!!!

That's for sure Bob, as well as be praying that the Judge doesn't rule in favor of the "liberal pukes", as nfh referred to #2, and stop the hunt altogether!
