Howdy,

Got to go turkey hunting this weekend and the birds were really running. There was a lot of action and everybody had a good time. Saw some strange behavior out of some birds too. Here are some pics.

Hope yall get to go hunting soon.

Says the guy behind the screen.

Nice looking birds, and good job on the buzzer.

Theres logic, and theres women. They don't go together.

Who says I don't like to hunt public land? I enjoy hunting wherever I get to do it. Here's be my last public land trophy.

I call this pic "Fat man on top of a mountian"

If there were turkeys there, I would hunt them there too.

I will admit that I am jealous! Turkey season in Wyoming does not open until Monday. Congrats looks like fun.

Give'em hell. Hope you whack a big one.

Thats awesome and it looks like a beautiful spot to bag one. What is the umbrella contraption thing beside him? I have not seen one of those before? Do they work?

They have worked well for our customers, and we have killed several. The presentation is a stretchable cover, and we have 22 different covers available for the unit.

In California, it is illegal to use the Moo Cow Cover on Turkeys, so I had to use the Turkey Cover to spot and stalk. The Moo Cow would have been the safer choice, but it was a semi-open private ranch situation, so I felt OK doing it.

Congratulations guys!

Jeff, where in the CA regs does it say you can't use the Moo Cow? I can't seem to find anything in the regs about it...

Thanks,

Horniac

It's in there somewhere. They wrote the regulation broad, stating that you cannot use a mammal decoy on birds.

I think it was written to keep people from slaughtering snow geese, but leaving it broad like that rules out turkeys as well

I'll search for it and post a link

Best of Luck,
Jeff

Nice job Tri! Fine lookin' birds and bad looking snake (good snake now he's dead)

My hunt here in Ut opens the April 13th and I don't have any solid plans yet! Bad on me!

I'll be out scouting some traditional spots for the next week.

Thanks for the link Jeff!

I thought I knew the CA regs extremely well, but apparently not as well as I thought. That particular regulation seems to be omitted when you go the to the F&G website and follow their links to the "12-13 Upland Bird Regulations" :

http://www.fgc.ca.gov/regulations/current/uplandgamebirdregs.aspx

Could get a guy in trouble if he just went by that and didn't look at the "12-13 Booklet of Upland Game Birds and Waterfowl Hunting/Regulations for Public Lands" that you provided.

I guess you learn something new everyday...

You are welcome, Horniac. Being in the business, I of course became aware of it through my customers and hunting acquaintances.

Stupid rule that would have put us in a dangerous situation had we not been hunting private land.

Sorry to jack the thread...congrats again TriState...and good luck to everyone.

Best of Luck,
Jeff
