Partner Dropped on an Upcoming Float Hunt

Well, this blows! My partner of 6 years had to cancel on an upcoming float hunt for Moose. Couldn't get back up here due to work related issues. I have to scramble to find someone less than 6 weeks out. All other folks I know and most that I don't know up here already have their fall hunts planned. It was going to be sweet, 10 full days of hunting on a river that didn't get hunted last year due to low water. Anyone have a few weeks they want to give up for a hunt? I have most needed gear for the hunt. Costs would be a plane ticket and approx. $1k, possibly less for other costs.

If anyone might be interested, please let me know. Only contact me if you are serious as you would be required to lay out some $$$. To give you an idea of what I look like, my equipment, and past hunts, you can look me up on the forum about 3-4 pages back and see the write-ups. If we choose to hunt together, I can pass on much more information.

If you haven't found another partner, PM me info such as unit, transport point, and such, and I will digest the information and see what I can do. I have done one successful DIY Ak hunt with my son, in 2010, and have another planned for next year, but I know of you through this forum and others, and know that you are knowledgeable and successful. It would be hard for me to swing it this fall, as I have other trips planned, but it is not out of the question, especially if I can convince the boss (wife).

Glad you found a partner...that sucks you had to scramble. Way back in the day my partner dropped out on an Alaskan drop-off caribou hunt in the Alaska Range...he literally had a nervous breakdown 2 months before the hunt (that's better than that happenning in the bush though). I still went alone, but don't recommend it...eight days in the bush is a lot to be by yourself. I defintely hunted differently than I would have w/ a partner...got two bulls though. Funny looking back on the stupid things we do when we're young...good luck!

I am very interested in doing an Alaskan hunt. I dont know what you need from me but I am an abled body just returned home from Afghanistan an would love a hunt opportunity. I have alot of hunting gear as welll if needed and have plenty of time for a hunt.

I about had a breakdown WHILE I was on a caribou hunt way back in 1977. It snows a couple feet, plane couldn't pick us up, ran out of food and fuel, slept in our bags about 20 hours a day just to stay warm. The weather moderated and it rained away the snow. We finally got out after 6 days beyond the end of our hunt. I vowed to never hunt up North again. So much for vows! LOL

How did the trip turn out. Successful like your others I hope. My dream hunt for sure. Just don't get on the Alaskin forum often. Would have been jumping for this hunt in a minute. Hope who ever took advantage knows what they recieved from you.
