I know this may not be the correct forum but i wanted to get some replies. I have the cabelas 1hp grinder. I wanted to use the 1-2LB burger bags and the tapping machine. Does anyone use this method or is everyone using freezer paper or vaccumm sealers? I cant seem to find the attachment for the grinder that the bags would slide on. Im just looking to try this method it seems less handling and quicker, any recommandations on a good tape machine??

thanks

The grinder should have come with funnels for sausage stuffing. I use the largest funnel and just slip the bag over the funnel and let the bag feed off the funnel as it fills. It works fairly well. Leave enough of the bag empty to tie/tape/or hog ring off. Keep enough tension on the bag as it fills so it doesn't have air in it, but be aware the bags are rather delicate at the seams and will split out if you over fill them. After filling a couple you will find it goes quickly.

That is the grinder I use. I grind the meat two times. The first time through it grinds fast. The second time through is slower and I run it through the big tube and into a 1 pound bag. You have to get the nut on the grinder plate REAL tight for the grinder to work well. I also have the tape machine and I won't do it any other way. The 1 hp is a size 22. You will need to give that number to get the right tube.

Here is the company I use

Here is the link for the 2" tube.

I have that grinder all I do is grind once on the course and fill pots and pans, then just use freezer bags. If I want sausage I mix and grind it again with the fine attachment. I also just freezer bag the sausage I don't like to fiddle with the stuffers.
