"(2) Utah bill aims to make fundraising for wildlife conservation more transparent and accountable – St George News" https://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/a...ore-transparent-and-accountable/#.YgZyWrdlAzY

Have to do so digging as my Spidey senses tingle anytime the legislature gets involved in hunting. I like the idea of FINALLY forcing $fw to do more than "trust us"? when challenged.

And, PROPS to Casey Snider. He seems to actually be addressing what the majority of us have been wanting, but can't get our own WB to address. Sucks that it has to come via politics and not via will of the hunters the WB is supposed to represent.

The majority of the state, or the majority of this website? Kudos to Casey for pushing his personal agenda that "everyone" wants?

Ya. We all want $fw to be more secretive.

We all wanted more baiting, and we all want more cams.

Got us there
We for sure want more red tape, politicians, and personal agendas pushed. Bait and trail cams are the very least of the problems. Nobody wants SFW.....except everyone on this site at the expo right now?

Based upon the language of the proposed statute, the purpose the bill is to make sure the DWR is using monies transferred to the DWR from conservation permits and expo permits, along with any other monies specifically earmarked for similar purposes, to carry out the purposes of the wildlife conservation permit program or the expo permit program.

For instance, under the conservation permit rules, conservation groups must remit to the DWR by August 15th of each year the remaining 30% of the total revenue generated by conservation permit sales in that year. See R657-41-9. And under the expo permit rules, there are provisions that allow conservation groups to work with the DWR to fund "projects advancing wildlife interests in the state. See R657-55-10. It appears that this bill is intended to shed additional light on how the DWR uses those funds and make the DWR is "transparent and accountable."

Based upon the language of the bill, the legislation does nothing to change the portion that the conservation groups get to keep from the sale of the conservation permits (10% for administrative expenses) or expo permits ($3.50 of each $5.00 application for administrative expenses).
