hey guys im from az, and my sister just moved to Rexburg. i was wanting to go see her this winter and was wondering if there are any leftover tags i could buy or what i can buy over the counter. i havnt been hunting with her in 20 plus years and was wanting to go kill something any help would be great!

You can hunt over the counter for deer and elk, and in some units, you could hunt them both during the same time. You will have to choose a specific zone for elk whereas a general deer tag can be used in any open season (choose mule or whitetail deer). Southeast Idaho is more restrictive on those general seasons, so you'll have to check the regulations, or maybe someone here will do some legwork for you.

The crux is that the cost of nonresident tags is obscene.

Also, it's not like it's real easy to head 30 miles out of rexburg and stumble onto something to shoot.

The fish and game website has pretty good info. Here is a link to the big game regs, it includes the General deer and elk, as well as maps showing the areas of the state.

BTW You can use your deer and/or elk NR tag on a wolf, Black Bear, or Mountain Lion if the opportunity arises and you so choose.

hunt whitetails around rexburg over the counter. lots of deer and can hunt wiht a bow all of november and 1/2 december

There are alot of whitetails within 20 minutes of Rexburg down in the riverbottoms
