I was wondering if any state other than AZ has a late muley season in say dec or jan for archery. I hunt every year in AZ but once that tag is filled it would sure be nice to go some where else and try something new. Also I was wondering about the early season archery tag in Utah for non res is that a draw or over the counter.

New Mexico has a late season OTC archery hunt in January for deer. I believe they are going to a draw in most zones next season (?????) but most southern zones should be undersubscribed.

Utah is a draw tag for archery only, however, it is usually undersubscribed as well, so buying one before the season shouldn't be a problem. Hope it helps.

Idaho has several that start in November and end in December. I have seen (and filmed) some big bucks. Crunchy snow, and negative temperatures are the draw backs.

New Mexico has gone completly to draw permits, I believe. But if you know someone who owns private land then you may buy an over the counter tag for their private land only.

Thanks for the info Id like to try utah next year after seeing the archery bucks in one of the last eastmans.

Make sure you do your homework on Utah. I was thinking the same thing until I found out that there are some units where you may not see a buck over 26". The best units are very tough to draw and access can be limited.

I know a great guy in Utah who is a guide and hunting consultant that I could put you in touch. He may be able to give you some good general info on what units may be best for you. Drop me an email if you are interested.
