over the border bulls

How many guys are hunting the archery hunt just over the border from utah, say franklin basin to bear-lake? I have heard that it is a zoo.

Did it once (2006) just for fun.... was fun but not great Elk hunting. Yes the are lots of other people there, and there are some Elk (saw lots of sign). But they were definately not as vocal as other less crowded areas during the rut, and with all the people in the area they turn nocturnal. Only saw a hand full of bulls, nothing worth flinging an arrow at and roads everywhere so its tough to get away from everyone.

I hunted deer on the UT side from Franklin Basin on the Sept. UT muzz deer hunt, but I camped at Wiggler lake just across the state line in ID. I was there 3 days and saw lots of elk, but only 2 bulls and both were right on the state line and were not really big. I met some goofball that drove his 4 wheeler way into the area off the designated trails. I had backpacked and it ticked me off, but I think I got the last laugh because he was planning to sit on Wiggler lake that evening right where we had set up camp.

I think there are better places to hunt in the Bear River range if you have the ID tag. Good luck.

Here are some pictures from my hunt. Pretty country, but the deer hunting wasn't too hot. Doubt I will ever go back.

Great Pics. Wow I love that country. It's been a few years since I've been in that area and seeing the pics made me a bit homesick.

That pic of the wheeler looks like it's parked at the end of the logging road coming up from the franklin basin road? I know alot of guys who glass from right there.

I'm very familiar with the wiggler lake area, we've ridden horses in there for years, Idaho actually turned that area into a limited entry deer hunt. This will be my first year trying this area for the archery hunt, I just hate hunting with everyone else, problem is I'm not real familiar with the country north of there, not even sure if there are too many elk.

Any advice would be awesome.

I hunted their in 06 also and shot a nice little 5x6 it was my first elk there wher alot of hunters! Hay is that last pic looking just north of beaver mountain? That is beautiful country. If I can figuer out how to post the pics I will
