I'm getting conflicting info from folks. What is the real difference between the older SLCs that are light green and the newer ones that are dark green? I've been told the newer ones have better coating, but then I've also been told the coatings are the exact same. What gives?

Swaroclean coating, makes the lenses easier to clean. They also have a little different look and feel, due to the rubber armour change and the addition of a new style plastic hinge. Those are the differences.

No they are not just different in body.

The SLC NUE got an upgrade in lens coatings, inproved lens quality and the swarobright (diaelectric) mirror coatings in the prisms. THe type of lens coatings were also changed to a more color neutral transmission.

Some of the last run of the older non NUE SLC with the black and light green bodys had the improved swarobright but the only way to know is to look up the serial number.

The older SLC's with silver coated mirrored prisms will be less bright and have more of a yellowish hue transmission/view.
