The below was sent to my wife by a friend of hers, who is a friend of the author. Sounds very plausible to me. He will be worse for the U.S. Military than Clinton ever was. His wife is so proud!! Whatever.

Hello everyone,

As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to "The War Zone". I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

In service,

Well for as long as i've served as a Marine, i've seen officers snubbed like it states in Snopes a number of times. then some senior knucklehead will come by to tell the political lie that all went well when in fact it didn't.
the fact that the Captain came back asking for it to be pulled tells me that this could be one of those times. So i question Snopes on this one. you may think me a fool but it wouldn't be the first time i was thought of as a fool and shown to be right later.

you all make up your own minds.

Now now, you're posting slander about your new CIC and boss there FX4. I'd love to see the look on your face when they toss Bush's picture in the dumpster and put up Obama's up in your office.

I can't say I want to see a picture of the big eared clown when I walk in a federal building myself, but knowing he'll be watching you guys who adore so much him is worth something.

Yeah Dude you have a good chance of being right on him being in office. But for my last 4 years in, I'll do what I did when I had a knucklehead for a commanding officer, which happened a couple of times. I'll just do my best to keep him from affecting the morale and motivation of my Marines.

You know though, you should look at the Manual for Courts Martial. They can't charge me for talking bad about him. Even if they did, what can they do besides make me retire. I'm going to do that in 3-4 years no matter who is in office anyway. 26-27 years of playing Marine is enough for me and my family.

The way that Marine Capt. retracted his statement also convinces me that his career as an officer was threaten if he did not retract and refrained from making anymore statements about Senator Obama. That my friends is how the military operate at times to curb their troops from becoming too vocal about certain matters that need not to go out to the civilian population.
All it will take is one of his superiors putting a black mark on his record, and a officer can forget about any future advancement and might as well pull the pin and get out.
Dude you would not know anything about this, since you have never served in the military and seen first hand how things operate in the military.
