Nice buck and great pics. I sure wish I had drawn Nevada. I would love to be hunting already. I guess I can wait another couple weeks?@#!

Congats on the nice buck. What area were you hunting? I'm hunting area 10 and have only hunted the first two days so far. Got drenched in the rain but saw some good 4x4's and went after a group of seven bucks but they gave me the slip. Its gonna be a week before I get back out again. fatrooster.

Fatrooster,

We were hunting in Unit 111 on the Schell Creek Range, we did a 3 day backpacking trip into the area. Its the only way i will hunt anymore.

HuntNevada, I agree with you about the backpack hunting. I've done it for three years with 2007 being my fourth and it is great. I work until the 9th and then I'm off the rest of August. I'll be out there livin' out of a backpack at 9'000' elevation and can't wait! fatrooster.

Fatrooster,

Thats sweet man, i wish there were more hunters who hunted with camp on there back instead of those big a** trailers all the time, don't get me wrong i love camping in them but in the spots i have seen them its nuts haha, but yea backpacking has grown on me so much. I like the seclusion the most from the other hunters and people in citys gives me and my buddies time to just be guys.

HuntNevada,

Congrats on a smoker buck and great hunt. Thanks for posting! My daughter drew 111 rifle and we will also doing a back pack hunt to get away from the 700 other hunters. I will be throwing on my pack next week and start scouting. I hope to draw an archery tag next year for there as well.

Hey Chris, havent heard from you in awhile.Congrats on your buck. That's awesome.I was wondering how the elk heard looks down there in the shells.I finally drew a bull tag down there for the muzzy hunt.I think I am going to start with the east side of the schells.Good glassing over there. My brother got a nice one over there 2 years ago.Looks like I will have to hike up in there too,now that they made it all wilderness down there.I hope that helps my chances.Guess I better be in shape huh?Missed a nice antelope with my bow yesterday at 45 yards after a 3 hour stalk.Misjudged by 5 yards.I am still sick about it,but it was fun.Anyway, congrats and good luck with any other hunts you have.
