So it's cynical to think that as gas hit record highs, and we are looking at a recession at best(probably stagflation) the left thinks gun control is their "issue" for the midterms?

Gun control is one of the biggest concerning factors in how I will vote this year. Some one asked me about some candidates the other day, I really didn’t know much about them so I told them let me take a look at their websites and see which ones are pro gun and if I don’t know anything else about them pro gun will get my vote and it should get yours.
 
I was watching some foreign news Channel and they call him bumbling biden and this is what you get when you order a president through the mail. Gave me a good laugh to see what other countries say about a guy that doesn't know what day of the week it is

It's just "Assault rifles"

I'm not saying it's a step that should be taken, but if a longer wait time and filling out additional paperwork would really save these kids lives then I'd be okay with it.

I never called an AR-15 an "assault rifle". That's why it was so easy to call you out for the lie you posted above. When you make **** up and talk out of your ass you lose any chance you have of somebody taking the time to have an honest conversation with you.

It would've been appropriate for you to ask if I thought an NFA stamp was appropriate for 9mm, but that's not what you did. You lied and said (in quotations, even) that I used the term "assault rifle" and said "no one wants your guns." I didn't say either of those things and for you to make up a quote for somebody that isn't a real quote is frankly chickenshit. I gave you the chance to rescind and you doubled down and then the quote you provided was on a specific point and said neither of the two things you quoted me as saying.

I thought you were better than that.

Quotation marks on "assault rifle"is the proper way to use a term that is made up.
This the reason only "assault rifle " was in quotations, not the entire sentence.

Further, do I really need to quote you from discussions on gun control where youve pointed out saying Obama and now Biden aren't banning guns and that is just the NRA creating a boogey man.?

Guess what. As of today, the NRA was right. Biden IS for banning not just "assault rifles".

Our President is obviously ignorant about guns, but he should educate himself if he's going to lead the country in gun control and make it one of his key platforms. It's embarrassing to say the least. He loses all credibility. It's no different than him saying the seas will rise by 8' if you don't put up windmills, as we sell coal to China to make them.

To some degree……. And, I wasn’t one of them, but a fair number that voted for Trump, in both 2016 and 2020 did the same thing, they didn’t vote for Trump, they vote the Republican platform. I was hoping for better than Trump in 2016 but no Republican stepped forward during the primaries so by the time the 2016 election rolled around I was all in for Trump and I’ve never regretted it for a second since and I’m even more committed today, because of his Republican platform and because of what he did and for what he tried to do from 2016-2020.

It’s not Biden that I oppose, it’s the Bernie Sanders socialist platform that I’m opposed to……not the guy reading the teleprompter. If Cindy Crawford or Christopher Langan were representing the Sanders ideology, I feel the same about them, as I do about Biden.

The folks that can’t stand Trump would react the same way to Mother Treasa, if she was representing the conservative platform. The anti/Trump folks could careless about Trump or his personality or his style, they hate his platform and they hate anyone that supports it.

Biden……… nothing more than a face and a voice……… for the socialist platform. Individually…….. as harmless as a toothless old Labrador.

This seems in line with what I think will be their actions.. People are fed up with gun violence. School massacres are just complete horror.
We had an attempt here last year at a school in Rigby. My wife's Grandson was there that day so I know plenty of what it does to parents even when the threat is thwarted.
I think AR bans are coming and that is just the start. There are many young people who get spun up with hate on internet platforms. Bullying and jealousy of those who have more wealth exacerbates these kids head issues.
We need to remove the division that is taking place in the US. Kids watch and listen to what their parents say. I know too many people are talking about the lead Democrats needing eliminated by weapons. That gives the impressionable minds the thought process that gun violence is ok. So parents need to raise their kids better. That is one issue that would help immensely.
I don't support gun bans but something will happen as pressure is going to be put and if you think the George Floyd riots were bad what is this going to cause the crazies to do ?

I really haven’t thought about gun control and the mid-terms. Will be interesting to watch, but I don’t think we’ll see the real impact until 2024. But the cynic in me understands your point.

I was making a vague reference to the tired old playbook both sides can’t seem to break free of. At least it’s spiced up a little by Biden’s next-level stupidity.

Problem is the wordplay used to pander to their base while pretending ignorance. They know that "assault weapons" to their base means ALL semi-autos and "scary" looking guns.
Note also the "does not support a ban on the sale of ALL handguns". That just means banning all semi-auto handguns, yes, but not the 6-shooter (yet).
EVERYONE knows this stuff. But i do understand the cognitive dissonance during these trying times.

It's a trap. Everyone knows the Heller decision was a 5-4 decision. One or two more Biden appointees and you'll be saying "too bad, suckers". Not every conservative is as dumb as you think they are.
