Where is a good place in the northern region to hunt deer with a rifle?

There are some great places. Unfortunately, they are pretty much all private. I will more than likely be using my northern tag as a fire starter as my plans fell through this season at my usual haunt and I refuse to fight 15 other guys for a glance at a fork horn. Had I known earlier I would have put in for another region. What a waste of my lifetime license this year. There can be some overlooked spots even in the north end on public. I am just not sure where they are.

there are a few decent areas. although rugged and very thick you can hunt the wellsville mtns. or the cache forest. ya there are a lot of people but get past the weekend crew and you can actually do fairly decent. it does take a lot more work and is by no means a trophy unit. spend your time looking and you can turn something up. if you get too discouraged with those areas, you can try out west. good luck. hope this helps
