The Elk have officially started shedding in Northern Utah. We only found one brown and everything we saw still had head gear, so maybe this guy was just a bit early. We also picked up a real nice set from last year. Seemed about 315-320 to me but I only came up with a score of 270. Anybody think this seems like a bigger bull than 270? Maybe I did something wrong, can't be real accurate on spread credit.

I think your tape jobs okay too...early season high hopes. Your length looks to be 46'ish with a couple shorter tines and the math just won't get very medium.

I can usually judge elk in videos and pictures within about 10 inches everytime, but when I come face to face with the antlers I can't judge crap. Kinda Wierd. Makes you realize how big a 300 inch bull really is. And it really makes you laugh even more when people throw out the "400" or nothing crap.

270 or not this is a great looking bull. I think I'm going to get one of the new Mountian mike elk skulls and mount it up.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-21-10 AT 09:51PM (MST)[p]Im in your same boat. I watched this bull rake a tree for five minutes before I sunk an arrow in him. , when I walked up to him I said 280 and I was way off. Only by 40 inches. Lol Luckily he grew, not shrunk.

Nice Bull!
What are the measurements on his:
4ths?
5ths?
and Main beams?

He looks pretty comparable, but better 4ths and 5ths. Just curious on what his lengths are.

His beams are 50. 4ths were around 17. 5ths 11 . then good mass h1-8 h2-8 h3-7 h4-6. his fronts are around 13.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-10 AT 02:02PM (MST)[p]I think the beams on dry boot's bull are quite a bit longer than your sheds HJB.

From the picture, I came up with 278, assuming it had a 34" spread, which may be a little short.

G1- 14
G2-11
G3- 11
G4- 15
G5- 7
(x2)

MB-42"

SC- 34"

22" of mass per side.

Nice job on the set!
