North Idaho

I don't know how close is close, but I am from Missoula, at least I'm going to school there! Tyring to get some shed areas lined up for next season, but it's been slow going!!! You wouldn't happen to have any ideas would you??
Tanner

I'm from Spirit Lake and been living in Thompson Falls for about 12yrs now.....

hey one guy I grew up in Spirit lake East...Went to school at Lakeland....If you don't shed hunt over here I would love anything you would share with me....You can PM or email me at [email protected] far as Tanner I don't know anywhere to go in Montana...I pretty much stick to the St. Joe and CDA's for elk and deer.....

LAST EDITED ON Dec-08-05 AT 06:21PM (MST)[p]used to hunt and trap SL East when it wasn't SL East...lmao! Twin Lakes and Spirit Lake have fair moose at the head of each of the lakes but ya gotta pay Inland Empire Paper Co. to access the ground...I know one guy that takes a few paddles outta those areas every year....think Preist lake would be best for populations and easier access....like I said, Pack River has a few moose also....probably best on west side of 95 up high. What I've found around here is that the bulls tend to hang up high and in 3-4ft snows....helps keep the predators off em so they hang high. Better hurry cause the paddles are probably hittin the ground about now.....

PS.. Moose NEED young regeneration timber to thrive....so hunt in areas that have been logged and have dense regeneration timber....small 10'-20' tall stuff...look for sign in/close to those logged over areas.....

last year I found the majority of mose paddles were dropping in the middle of January but I will keep my ears opens in case any are dropping....you ever do any looking for whitetail sheds over here. I do fairly well but I am always looking for new spots to go explore.....you ever get back over to these parts...

I wasn't into shed hunting when I lived over there....I'd find a few when I was logging but that's about it. I'm over in SL quite abit in the summer...all my old motorcycle buds live there and my mom lives in Hayden. I ride over there alot in the summer..nice 250mi round trip

Yeah I live in Cda right on the border to Hayden....Thanks for the feedback....I will have to explore in the Pack....Sometimes that is the only way ...

thought maybe you'd like to know.... I went out chasing the swamp donkies today and found 2 bulls....both still packin

were you chasing over in thompson falls....I figured if we don't get too much new snow I might go for a stroll after xmas...

Ya..I was about an hour from TF...went out again yesterday close to town where sometimes I see some sign...nothing this time out. Did run into some snowmobilers that were kinda shocked that I got Quadzilla back in there so far....they don't like it when I rut up their little trails...lmao! I'm thinkin about gettin one of those snowmachines? We get any more snow and I won't be able to get into any moose holes till spring....

Mule deer are dropping already, so moose should be well on their way. Pretty early for this many mulies to be dropping them.

Jeeez! Where are you seeing muley droppin this early...like what state? I can believe a few whitetail but muley?

Washington. I had a friend who ran over fresh tine with his tractor, have seen one myself, and reports from other folks of about 6 one antlered deer. Thats too many for this time of year, but to coincidental to see that many one antlered deer running around......
unless bobcat IS OUT ON HIS 4 wheeler SAWING OFF antlers again. ; )

its been colder than average here though and pretty dark and gloomy. May have something to do with it, along with an earlier rut.

went out today and glassed up 5 whitetail...all packin...saw a couple of muley but at quite a distance and just assumed they were does....cold here too...-5 to 25 lately...in fact for about a month now...

Hey NIS....you may be right...been out quite abit chasing the swamp donkies lately. Trying to beat the heavy snows...anyways...probably covered 30-40mi on quadzilla...hiked about 5-6mi...... glassed a ton... and have probably stood in 40 different moose beds... and waded thru tons of moose chit.....no bone... As much work as I've done lately I shoulda had 1 or 2? Think I'm gonna back off for a few weeks....
