Noon-time Gambels Hunt near Sedona

Escaped the snow in Flag for a few hours Sunday by making the 30 minute drive south to Beaver Creek off I-17 east of Sedona. Rica and I found one scattered covey in a draw during the few hours we hunted, along with many pig and elk tracks in the sandy soil. We got a male and female from the covey. It was a little breezy, and the birds held well to point, which was a pleasant surprise from the usually running Gambels. We did not hunt the whole afternoon, but I was satisfied with the short hunt before taking the drive through Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon back up to Flag. Made a mental note to do a photo trip to Sedona and play tourist one morning after some snow.

Doug,
What your posts lack in quantity, the make up for in quality.
Always good photos.
That is a very pretty scattergun you have there.
Thanks for sharing your trip.
