Non-res reduced bear hunt ?

Hello every one. I am looking for any info or tips that you all may have on hunting the reduced bear units in Idaho. I plan on backpacking in and bowhunting from a treestand. I've have been looking at the clearwater,and selway areas, but am open to any suggestions. Good areas to start, areas to avoid, accessibility, or anything else you may be willing to share.

How far can you backpack a bear out and how big of a bear do you want?

I'm not going to be too picky on size, I just want a bear. I don't really want to bring horses along so I'd say under five miles. I talked to the Id. fish and game and they said that the reason for these tags is because of the bear numbers and problems with bears. I plan on do some scouting this spring and thought I'd try to get a head start.
