WELL...........THE NR ELK DRAW IS ABOUT A WEEK AWAY (22ND).WHO IS IN & FEELING LUCKY. I THINK I AM ONE YEAR AWAY FROM MY TAG, BUT WITH THE RECENTLY HIKED UP TAG FEES ANYTHING THING CAN HAPPEN.

ANY THOUGHTS ON SNAGGING YOUR TAG, GOOD LUCK IN THE DRAW..........YD.

Im in but I don't have a clue whats going to happen this year. My guess is that if you put in special you may be surprised at your outcome, the regular might be a bit more crowded. I'm thinking i might should have came up with the extra myself but man thats a lot of dough!

I'm curious to see if I'll get a Type 4 tag as a second choice. All the tags were taken as a first choice last year.

Hopefully, we'll see...I too wonder how many panic this year with price increase and try and draw to get out...

I'm lucky used my 10 points last year but had two friends that didn't want to wait any longer and added me to average in with them this year. We did special in griz country and based on last years odds should draw our type 9 tag this year. However anything can happen, its going to be a long 7 days.

Not to be a downer but I think the special might have the opposite effect. More hunters might think they have a better chance cause of the price and put in for the special but good luck hope everyone draws.

For what it is worth, I have always applied for the regular license, but I applied for the special license this year. As already mentioned, my strategy of applying for the special license due to the price increase may have been detrimental to my odds - which are horrible either way - if everyone else thought the same thing. $1300 (approx.) is a lot of money, but it's a small price to pay for having the chance to chase bulls in Wyoming.

Sounds like they need to really jack up the Special Tag prices to the point that it really reduces the number of applicants.

Sadly, hunting big game is quickly moving to a rich mans sport. I pump out a bunch of money each year applying in 6 states and pushing hard to draw quality tags and EXIT the points game. What are the prospects of a 30 year old just getting financially able to start the application process ?? Its dismal... This individual is religated to random draw odds in most every western state ( except NM / Nev) for the next 30+ yrs. We have seen Az recocognize this and adjust , but big picture....it doesn't change the situation for a young Hunter starting the points game. The demand vastly overwhelms the supply and there is not any way around it. I feel for the youngsters, better be in good shape and be able to out hike others in the lower demand units.

No doubt that the point systems discriminate against the youth. That's why all point systems should be banned.

I am in for a 067-9 tag paying the special price with a group of 3..... I hope we have enough points as I'm 71 and having to work hard to be physically up to the trek and then the hunt. I did it with a rifle 4 years ago and it was a blast. Good luck to all.

It's not only youth that these systems discriminate against. A person of any age that doesn't get in on the ground floor of a PP system the year it was started and continue to buy points every year may never have a chance at drawing one of the top units if that's what they are looking to draw. The Wyoming system is a good example in that it just started in 2006 and already a number of the top units for elk, deer, and antelope will never be obtainable even if a guy has max points due to the low number of tags available and the huge number of applicants and point holders who have just been building PPs and have never even applied for a tag yet! That is not to even mention the sheep and moose draws that will statistically take several lifetimes to even draw some of the lower to mid tier units! Then add in the continuing increases to the point and license fees and many can't afford to start, and even worse, ones who have invested a lot of money in the systems and now can't continue due to the rising costs. There should only be random draws IMHO, but we are way past that now and that will never happen in most states just due to the money involved alone!

Good luck, as I see last year there were only 6 tags in that draw, but it only took <3 PPs for a 100% draw. I see there weren't even any Type 1 tags issued for last year so the hunter numbers should not be bad if you 3 do draw your tags.

I have to agree. I had dreams of an archery or muzzy tag for Colorado 61 but now have 12 points and will be lucky as hell to be healthy enough if I live long enough. I am not saying things are not fair but I have no suggestions on a more fair and equitable method to allot tags. I really appreciate the big hunting game hunting opportunities for nonresidents.

Unlikely since Monday is a Holiday and the G&F staff will be off. They always put a blurb up the day before the results are posted, so even if that is done on Tuesday when they're back to work that would only mean the results would be posted one day early.
