Okay, I am looking for a rangefinder for less than $300 although the leica crf is king of the hill, I simply cannot afford it. I also would like some kind of drop compensator. I have narrowed my selection to either the Nikon riflehunter 550 or the Bushnell Scout 1000arc. Which has longer ranging capability, clarity, accuracy, and feel? Simply which is better and why? Any input is appreciated. THANKS

I would go with the Nikon. The angle compensation is good for up to +/- 89 degrees the Busnell only to +/- 60 degrees. Nikon will range animals out to 550 plus get readings much further, mine has read out to 856 yards on a tree. Nikon is accurate to +/- 1/2 yard.
