Nikon Field Scope III ED

I have been researching some spotting scopes trying to decide on whether I want to buy a spotting scope or a shotgun, anyway I have talked to some people who say this Nikon is one hell of a scope. I would sure like your opinions. I'm looking at spending up to $1,600.00 and the one guy I spoke with ranked the scopes in the following order.

1. Swarovski HD
2. Nikon Field Scope III ED
3. Zeiss Dia

I would really appreciate your input and experiences.

Also, anyone looking to buy a Minox 20x45 60mm angled spotting scope? I would sure like to get rid of it.

Here's a link to a great deal on another board for a slightly used Nikon Fieldscope TF3, which is identical to the Fieldscope III ED, just blacked out "tactical". If I didn't already own one, I'd be all over it!

On another hunting site, this 2008 review of spotting scopes by a birding group was given. There is a downloadable pdf file of a chart with the ratings. I don't think the new Zeiss scopes were included.
