A friend of mine, Josh Cagwell, took this buck during the 2010 archery season in Nevada. You guys might remember me posting the pictures.

I found this set of sheds on my first outing this year.

Here they are together.

The buck officially scored 218" gross SCI and the sheds unofficially scored 177". I feel awed to have found a set of sheds from such a great buck. I gave the sheds to Josh. I'm sure he will enjoy them much more than me and I kinda feel like they belong with the buck. Wow, I love shed huntin'. fatrooster.

Sweet find fatrooster . So it looks like the buck changed some and put on some big inches and bigger drop tines in a year . Your a heck of a guy for giving the hunter a gift like that .

LAST EDITED ON Mar-04-11 AT 07:02PM (MST)[p]Sweet sheds and buck. Cool how he kicked out double drops later in his life.
+1 on giving up the sheds. Bet that was hard to do!

The sheds were at least 2 years old and yes it was hard to give them away at first. But hell, thier just antlers! Besides, somebody once gave me the other side of a killer set of an antler I found a couple of years ago and like the saying says, "What comes around goes around." fatrooster.

Cool story and very cool of you to give him the sheds Drew. I did the same thing with a set last year. I had filmed the buck in 06, and a friend found his sheds, and later sold them to me. The buck was killed that fall and scored 216. The sheds were in the high 170's. Last year I was looing at pics and it dawned on me that it was the same buck. After showing the sheds to the hunter, he wanted them so I gave em to him. This buck put on 40+ inches in one year.

Yellum, thats very cool that you gave away that set of antlers after you had bought them. YOUR THE MAN!
muledeernuts, NO YOU CANNOT GO THROUGH MY SHED PILE!!!!! Ha ha, good try though.
Two years ago during an elk hunt I spotted up an elk shed. I couldn't go after it that day so about a month later I went and retrieved it. Here it is.

Well while I was up on the mountain I ran into a friend who was driving his Unimog/Pinzgauer 6 wheel drive truck around. He managed to talk me out of the antler. He cut it up and made some nice knife handles. Last year he rolled his Unimog down the mountain killing himself. I'm glad I was able to spend that day with him and give him the antler. fatrooster.
