new scope or new reticle

I have a 12 year old 4X12X40 leoupold with fine duplex, should I a get better scope with mil dots or have mil dots put in for $159.00. If anyone could give me advice that would be great. Thanks

Are the mil dots worth it? Do you use them for range finding like they were built for or just hold over points? Wouldn't the B&C reticle be better for holdover/aiming points?
