New Mexico elk

Have been studying the regs and maps and am thinking of putting in the gila. Is there much difference in the elk numbers and access in the 16 A-D units. Have never been but have tolked to several guys who have been and sounds like the hunt of a lifetime. We would go for the second season I think just not sure what should be first choice. Any help?? I hunted 16d a few years ago. It was awesome! We had opportunities at some great bulls! We never could seal the deal. It was a Do it yourself hunt. It took a day or two to get into elk but from then on it was awesome! There are some great muley bucks and a lot of bears in the area two! You might consider getting a tag for them as well. I had to pass a 25 yard shot on a bear (cinamon) because I had decided against the bear tag! Good luck to ya!

Thanks guys for the input. It sounds like a great area with a lot of elk just have to put it all togethor. Starts with drawing a tag then go from there. nwhunter
