new mexico elk units

Please give me your opinions on which units are best for New Mexico archery elk. thanks in advance.

15, 16, 17, 52 would be my opinion. I hear 34, 36 are good, but don't know for sure. Good luck drawing one though. Save your money and buy one.

I have hunted all over the state of NM, and I would have to say these are your best units 16D, 16A, 16E, 16B(if you are able to pack in and hunt deep in the wilderness),15, 34 and 36, 13, 17, and 6A. All of these units offer great oppertunities on super bulls, but some have more elk than others. I have had the hunt of a lifetime in unit 16D, hope I can draw it someday soon. Some real toads in those hills.

Depends what you are looking for. Are you looking for trophy bulls, or you want an opportunity at a mature bull? You plan to hunt with an outfitter or on your own? Provide more specific details.

Thanks for the comments,I asked the question before applying for this years draw.I put in for unit 34 as my first choice,should hear something in a few days,if I get luckey,I may have more questions.The hunt would be a self guided hunt.Thanks again for the replys.
