Decided to head to the area I found a few other elk antlers in while turkey hunting this year and came across this "Monster-For Colorado public lands general draw area" I was shocked to say the least.
I will not sleep again till I find the other side.
Pictures are as it lay and shown against my pack for size referance. Too bad a few points were broken.
Enjoy.
Best,
Jerry

Looks like I will wait till bow season to find the other side.
Did not think elk would be so low this time of year and were higher up untill I came across this little fella.....

Guess the elk are using this area all year round and it's the least elk looking spot anyone would think to find them in.
Possibly that's how that bull has eluded hunters till now.
Hopefully I get a chance at the big bull archery season and will stay out of the area till then.
No need pushing elk and especially calves around when they are so vulnerable...A matched shed ain't worth it in my book.
Guess I need to spend a few trips getting above the area from a distance and glassing to find out what is really there.

The last couple of hikes I have been on we have had to detour around calves too. It,s hard enough for the cows to raise calves with all the wolves and grizz around here, they don't need us to bug them.

Time in the hills is always worth more than money

Wow! I am very impressed with the hunter ethics you guys are showing. Take note all you shed hunters out there - this is how we should all behave, like responsible and caring sportsmen. You really deserve a prize.
