It would sure help if you could tell us what research you've done to narrow things down a little bit to at least a few areas you're looking at, or maybe you haven't even done that! There are plenty of LE units all over the state to hunt either animal on public ground, especially if you have max points for both. What shape are you guys in to do the hunt and can you rough it out by yourselves? Some think a fun hunt is done out of a motel, while others might say that you need to go up at 10,000' in a tent to have fun and a good hunt. Obviously you have ruled out wilderenss areas if you want to do a DIY hunt. Are you talking about a combo hunt or doing a separate hunt for each animal in different years? My suggestion would be to concentrate on one animal at a time to do it right, but that's just my opinion. Do you bow hunt or strictly gun hunt? If you can hunt an early season with a bow by paying the $30 for an archery permit, that is a good way to go and scout the area and then if you don't fill the tag you can go back and hunt the rifle season. These are just a few thoughts and questions that should probably be answered in order for us to help you as much as possible.
