We've posted the near-final draft of the 2015 Utah Big Game Application Guidebook. Please take a look and let me know if you have questions or see something that doesn't look right. We'll have a brief window to correct any problems before the proof goes back to the printer next week.

Please keep in mind: We're still getting some of the maps, hunt tables and other content posted on the DWR website. That will be done by the time the book is printed. For now, though, please be patient if you don't see the Web content you expect to see. Thanks!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-08-14 AT 00:38AM (MST)[p]So, if I read this draft correctly (page 16), leftover general permits no longer convert to other weapons at the end of the season, ie: archery to muzzleloader, muzzleloader to any weapon and they ALL are sold July 16th. Yes, Amy?

Not exactly, elkfromabove. If there are general-season deer permits that remain available after the archery season ends, they will convert to muzzleloader permits. Likewise with muzzleloader and any legal weapon permits. Last year, all of the permits sold out before the seasons ended so none of them were converted to another weapon type.

If you look back at the 2014 Utah Big Game Application Guidebook (page 15) we did it the same way. We will list the permit conversion dates in the 2015 Big Game Field Regulations Guidebook that goes to print in May.

The new muzzle loader hunts are not in blue, meaning there will be at least 10 tags so nonresidents will receive at least one permit.

So, now NR's cant apply for the Willard Peak Nanny hunt?

What the flip? Instead of getting closer (after 14 years) to drawing a tag it just keeps getting further and further out of reach.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-11-14 AT 08:22AM (MST)[p]They've been taking mountain goats from Willard to transplant elsewhere. Utah's nanny hunts only happen when an area has excess goats that need to be removed from the herd due to overpopulation. Give it time those goats on Willard multiply like rabbits. As a resident we only had one tag available last year because of this.
