I was thinking about buying some and wanted opinions from people who have actually used them. The guy at Sportsmans Whorehouse said he thought they were great but had never used them (typical salesman). Are they worth the extra $$$? Did they improve grouping? Thanks.

Haven't used them myself, however a friend did, he said they were great when new. He also said he would not hunt with them, after using them a little while he found that any imperfection that developed on a vane would make the arrow fly extremely erratic.

They work, but are not very durable. The trailing edge portion is molded on as a secondary operation and will come detached if hit by other arrows in the target.

They are also very unforgiving of vane contact. If your form is not very good and / or you have marginal clearance on your drop away rest, they can sail off into outer space.

My opinion is that regular vanes on an offset work just as well, are much more forgiving of form flaws and vane contact, are about 1/4 the price and depending on the type can be infinitley more durable over a season.

Just my $0.02

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks for your input. I was wondering about the durability factor. Sounds like I will be better off with my regular fletching. Once again thanks.
