My MS turkey hunt

I just boarded a flight in Memphis headed back home to Vegas.
In 5 morning hunts, I managed to put down 2 birds this year. The hunting was super tough this year with very little gobbling. I’m not sure if it was the weather or if maybe the mating season started early. Either way... I had a great time & enjoyed myself.

One thing I noticed in your pics is all the green vegetation. We won’t be seeing much of that in Nevada this year I’m afraid.

Thanks buckhorn! I had a great time. I just wish my dad could have made it out with me this year. Hopefully he will get himself fixed up so he can get back out there next spring.
I agree... it has been a dry spring in southern NV as well.

It’s my personal favorite time to be in the woods.
Thanks! The call is a black & white ebony with aluminum over copper & a matching striker. They were both made by John Sinclair out of Pennsylvania. His calls are as deadly as they are beautiful. He does some very nice work.

I have family in MS so I go back every year to visit & turkey hunt. I try to go to OK every other year, but Covid messed that up last year & I didn’t plan for it this year.
I want to plan an Osceola hunt next year if I can squeeze it in.

Thanks! I hunt a mix of hardwood & fields on one property & some swamp land with old cypress on another.
I love the taste of the birds, I compare it to a butterfly pork chop.
I will usually prepare it blackened in a cast iron skillet then finish it off on low heat on the Traeger. ??
