My dogs first shed!

I found this shed back in January, just haven't got around to posting it yet. I watched two bucks fighting about a half an hour before dark, and as I was glassing for more deer, I kept on checking back on the two bucks that were fighting. Sure enough, I went back to check on them and one was missing a horn. I went home and got my little boy and my dog, and we hiked up to where they had been, and I told my dog to "find the Shed", sure enough he ran around for a minute, and as soon as he caught wind of it he turned and picked it right up. It was awesome. I have been working with him around the yard with old sheds, and he is really loving it.

NICE JOB WITH YOUR DOG. I NEVER HAVE TRIED LOOKING FOR SHEDS AT NIGHT THOUGH. I'M SURE OLE' ROOSTER HIMSELF WILL BE TRYING THAT NEXT !!!!

Dakotasage, congratulations on your dogs first shed. You must be a proud Papa and rightly so. Its very rewarding when it all comes together.
Archerybug, I've already done training sessions with my dog in the dark, it makes them use thier nose. But I don't plan on doing any real shed hunting in the dark although I might have to in order to keep up with you since you get to go more than me, ha ha.
tinehunter, don't tell all of my secrets, lol. fatrooster.

Archerybug, don't forget that I'm an electrician in a gold mine. Somebodies gotta do my work, lol.

Dakotasage, lets see more pics of your dog. fatrooster.

fatrooster, he really is a great dog, I can't wait to do some shed hunting with him. He has a really good temperment, even the cat gets along with him

Sweet pic Dakota. The shape of his head looks like my dog. If he didn't have a red nose I wouldn't be able to tell a difference. Congrats on a great dog. fatrooster.

Great dog, does the cat retrieve sheds also. If so, you must be one heck of a trainer. I just might send my wife down so you can train her. LOL

No, the cat doesn't find sheds, but I sure would like to train my wife too. Then I could shed hunt twice as much. Heck why stop there I will train my kids to find them too. I will be able to cover every inch of a hill side in no time. I could even pay the kids a dollar a shed just to keep them motivated. Thanks tinehunter you really got me thinking now.
