My best set of elk bones EVER!!

What do you guys think of this guy? I know what he scores, but I'm curious what you guys think. He's kind of tricky because he is so massive. He's 15 lbs./side.

I found one side on a Saturday and didn't find the other until the next Thursday! I figure I put on an easy 40 miles trying to match them up. They were almost a mile apart. What's up with that? I think wolves were probably messing with him. There are a lot of wolves in this area. Anyways, good luck to you all.

I'm going to wait a little bit. I just want to see if anyone throws any guesses out. Also, my great uncle's dad sent me that shirt from Wyoming. I live in Colorado. I don't think there's any big bulls in Wyo.
 
You're closer than I was when I first spotted them and took a guess at the score. I was WAY off.
 
I've got a 16 lb. single side that scores 190". I'm guessing that yours will go somewhat less because of the slightly lighter weight and yours look like they have shorter points on the bottom three. I'll throw out the number of 180" each plus 45" of spread credit equals around 405" gross. After deductions you'll be around that magical 400" mark. Those are a great elk set, especially because you found them yourself.

You are the closest so far and yes, I'm thinking about mounting them. Actually since I found them two weeks ago I've been "mounting" them every night. My wife is getting jealous.
 
That is a great set indeed. If I owned them, I wouldn't have them mounted. I would leave them just as they are. That way you can pick them up and man-handle them any time you want to without having pins or rods sticking out of the bases.

Why don't you give me your wife's number, and I'll give her a call to see if she's ready to sell those bad boys yet. I'll offer her $30/lb. and I'm sure she would think that was a pretty good trade.
 
Yeah, my wife's already been on ebay seeing what I could get for them. I told her to just drop it because they're staying with me.
 
Oh, come on. I'm sure you know that 400" bulls are everywhere now here in Utah. They're not rare or valuable anymore. Go ahead and sell them to me, then go out and find some bigger ones.

OK. I'll tell you guys. We scored him at 408 3/8 gross with a 44 inch spread. He could be 42 wide and he looks good at 45 also. He has 10 deduction points. So net he wouldn't quite be 400. That is unless I messed up scoring, but I didn't. I scored it a hundred times. Good luck to you all.
 
Sweet finds!!! Just don't let the whole world know that they were found within sight of town OK That area has some of the biggest bulls on the planet and only a few lucky dogs like you have access to it! I have been told what these bad boys score so I won't spoil the guessing game. NO WAY I would mount them Leave them as sheds!

Do I work with your mom? If so keep my secret because I'm sure you trapes those hills every once in a while too. And I couldn't quite see them from town, but maybe from the road. Ha ha.

What's cool is my brother has this bull from last year and he scored 384 then. He put on about 26 inches this last year. Amazing! The scarey thing is that I think he has one more year of good growth in him. Put on anothr 15-20 inches and WOW!

That gets me to thinking. Didn't you and your dad have that tag this last fall? Any regrets now? Probably not. You got to spend time with your dad.
 
Dang man! Nice set. I found a 340" set earlier this year, its posted on here as Unique Nevada Elk Set, run on over and tell me what ya think! Those fifths on your bull are unreal. I like pickin up muley sheds better than elk bt when ya come across some bone like that ya have to strap it to your pack i would think. Anyhow nice set and give me your adress and i'll send ya a real college basketball shirt, Duke Blue Devils all the way baby! haha thanks for sharing!

That's a pretty cool bull. Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass on the Duke shirt. They aren't going to win the championship this year so I can't wear it. I guess I shouldn't say too much about them though considering the shirt I'm wearing.

Yeah, I have some field photos. I just haven't got around to posting them. I have a few other pics I'd like to post, but everything I post is HUGE and I don't know how to fix that.
 
No elklover that is me. I heard your brother is cleaning up. that's alright. Ya dad and I had that tag, I had a blast in there. We didn't get real great bulls, but man all those bulls. I had a hard time getting around with dad, he just couldn't power march if we saw some to go after. I saw some hogs up there, just couldn't go after them. Not complaining though, two six points with in 20 minutes of the house was all right!!

Actually my brother isn't doing that great. Last year he did good. This year he has been struggling. You know how the rumors fly during horn huntin' season though. It's been so tough for him this year that he took off for 5 days last week and went somewhere else. I've only picked up 8 browns up there. Of couse 2 of them were these 2. Anyways, I got to figure out who wyohikeit is now. Take care.

I just figured out who you are. I thought some of you boys were supposed to be up there a week or so ago. What happened? I'm sure you heard about some of the issues the upper land owners are having with the bigger lower ranches. Is that why you couldn't go? Just curious.
