Well I know that there is some back and forth about when the deer drop and what affects when they drop. I've been on the fence the last few years, not really landing on what determines the shedding timeline. Genetics/location or weather? Obviously genetics and location play a role but I think that I have seen enough to say that weather is a significant factor. This year really sealed it for me. I went out this weekend to scout/glass and saw a some bucks and not a single one had shed even one side. This is the same area that I went last Jan. 16th and saw 3 shed out bucks and one 1/2 shed. This year was mild, last year was hard. Sure, there can be other factors that I could be missing but it seems that weather plays a pretty significant role. That being said, I'm pretty sure that by the 1st of March, whatever the weather, we'll be looking at a bunch of sheds on the ground.
