after every single whitetail has shed, i go out and see muleys with their racks still on. beginning of feb this year i saw at least 8 or 9 muley bucks in one day all sporting antlers, everything from 5xs to forked horns. last year i saw a forky in mid april still sporting both sides. i spend most of my time in whitetail areas and know when they drop, but i still dont really get muleys. any help with this? im sure there are minor regional variations.... im looking around NE wa state. around here the whiteys drop significantly earlier than the mule deer. thanks in advance for any help

I have found fresh muley sheds as early as Dec 26 and have seen them still packin as late a the first week of April. Around here the mass shedding seems to be around the last week of Jan to the 2nd week of Feb, but every year is a tad different. In warmer winters it seems to be later.

+1 there is a pretty wide spread between the beginning and end of the shed season for muleys. I would agree with the warm winter vs. cold winter shedding, it seems that a cooler winter means earlier sheds.
