While elk hunting this morning in a snow storm, I saw my first migrating mule deer. I saw three different groups doing the "slow trot" east. Temps were in the high teens and snow was falling. As usual, the first migrating muleys were does, fawns and a couple of dinks.

just sayin...mh

Getting more snow? any more movement? I have a 128 late tag this year so just trying to keep tabs on the conditions.

thanks

I agree it will make 128 a epic hunt if the snow continues. there was very little snow even in the tops last year. I can only imagine how good it would be with a good snow year.

I'm going to try to be there for the opener but have to get back right after that. Probably hunt elk and scout a few days prior to opener.

So then probably back out there on the 13th, stay until filled.

on Saturday i was in another drainage. saw a bunch of deer. all the bucks were in bach. groups. One group of 5 bucks ranged from 140-160 class. After i passed some other hunters shot 2 of the bucks out of that group. One had a 4 inch cheater that i overlooked. I would rather just wait till Whitetail season opens up since I'm not a mule deer fan. I lost count on how many does i seen. What shocked me is most the does i seen had 2 fawns. I had a good time but the deer were not in migration. But i was to the south of mightyhunter and didnt get the snow you guys got. The snow was sticking above tree line. At the trail hear there was 7 other trucks/trailers. Most were elk hunting and the other deer hunters dont take the time to glass so they ride past most the deer.

however i did smoke a small 2x2 doing 70mph while i had my horse trailer loaded.

I also seen a couple of grizz.

Hope the weather keeps cooperating. I drew the 105 late tag this year. That was my only fear that they would be migrating after the season. 2 weeks and counting!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-18-16 AT 10:03AM (MST)[p]Any report on the South Fork\Ishawooa Area 112/113. I will be out Nov 4 and getting very excited.

Wihunter,

You will have nothing to worry about with the late 105 tag. I have been hunting the area on a 51-1 elk tag. There is plenty of snow in the high country. I am seeing deer on both sides of Area 109 and the mature bucks will show. However, there is one mature buck that won't be showing. I took care of him before he had a chance to migrate.

just sayin...mh
