How does the draw work for mule deer hunts in Idaho? I am a nonresident and would like to find out how hard it is to draw into a muledeer hunt. Also , what time of year do you have to apply? Any information would help. Thanks for your time!

Its a lottery system. No points. Put in for draws May 1st threw June 5th.
Depending on unit you are putting in for will depend on what your chances are.

Check out this Site, it will give you draw odds & share with you how many other hunters applied for a particular hunt in years past! Just click on the State!

2 nice things about Idaho. Draw odds versus quality aren't bad because if you apply for Sheep or Moose or Goat, you can not apply for deer/elk/antelope and the non-refundable license fee doesn't get you a point so lots won't pay with nothing to show for it.

Second is that the draw odds are true odds. No points, squared points, etc to confuse the issue.
