Got to be honest, I'm kinda disappointed in the mule deer foundation. I decided I want to try and do my part in helping the mule deer herds out. So figured the best place to start could be some sort of organization like the mule deer foundation or Muley fanatic foundation. At this time I decided to send a lifetime membership of 1k to the MDF. This money has cleared my account over 40 days ago, I hadn't heard anything from MDF so I thought I better email and make sure the funds were going to good use. Haven?t heard a word, no email, call, nothing. I'm hopeful that there actions for mule deer are more professional than there operations. Kinda wishing I would have spent that money donating to the MFF, I get notifications from them consistently, they seem a little more committed to the cause, rather than just taking your money.

For 1K I'd Call & Thank You!:D

I know so many people in so many places
They make allot of money but they got sad faces

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

Call their HQ wherever it is and demand a refund. MDF hasn't done conservation work in years. I think they're a lumber company now. But the Expo is a hit and the 8.1 million raised at the expo in the name of conservation was put to good use installing guzzlers for sheep and cattle on private land. But I'm sure the Farm Bureau, Cattlemen's Association, and Utah Woolgrowers all appreciate the projects as well as the big game landowner tags they're awarded by the state. One man's opinion.

Boy it sucks when you here this, you should get a phone call of appreciation. It really makes you wonder with Mule Deer herds declining in the west where they truly stand.

This is completely false information and grossly unsubstantiated.

You?re a good man for donating. I don't know what they should do when someone donates that much money, but I believe it?ll go towards some good projects, etc. Feel good for your contribution and don't worry too much about the response you got for your good deed.

You can also see my "MDF/DWR Deer COLLARING PROJECT" post in the Utah forum.
This is an active current list the MDF is doing along with the DWR throughout Utah.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-19 AT 05:00PM (MST)[p]Sounds like things got worked out. I'm following through with the donation, and plan to help out on projects in the future. Never started this post to toot my horn or bash an organization. In the sad, computer hacking world we live in just didn't want the money finding the wrong hands. Hopefully those who contribute time and money to MDF and other organizations donations go towards helping Muleys, they could use it. Thanks for everyone?s input.

Glad I was able to assist you and get it all worked out.

Thank you for your contribution and watch for my posts on projects, banquets and events.

Now that's a bunch of guys piping up for an organization they believe in and can show the projects they are working on. I believe you will be getting a quick response and your money is going to a great cause.

All,

The truth of the matter is that anyone can hop on here and express anything they'd like as a matter of opinion, trolling or whatever. My response to Fullthrottle was irritating at the very least and I'd like to offer an apology. A $1,000 is a lot of money, at least in my world it is. Some type of email confirmation from MDF acknowledging his desire to help would have been nice but 40 days isn't that long in the grand scheme of things. So hopefully Slamdunk, whom I assume is an employee of MDF, will get the ball rolling and get his life membership processed.

I don't think MDF will or should spend any of this on projects of any kind. Depending on how old Fullthrottle is, MDF is committed to supply him with a lifetime of magazines and potentially will lose money over all. So, for the life membership to really count towards anything, Fullthrottle needs to match the lifetime commitment MDF is making by stepping up and supporting their efforts in conservation for a lifetime. Don't just sit back and think the life membership is enough.

My comments about the projects did not belong in this section and I apologize for that as well. But I'd like to point out that I've seen the project board you posted multiple times at banquets around the state. There isn't any description of each project and nothing that really states anything but the name of the project and a dollar amount. It would be nice to know a little more about each project and how it benefits mule deer and other wildlife. It would also be nice to have MDF acknowledge that most, if not all, of these projects were funded by big game conservation tags sold at banquets and the Expo. Slamdunk, is this information available on MDF's website or somewhere else?

First and foremost, I am not an "employee" working for the Mule Deer Foundation.
I am a committee member on the Utah County Chapter and am a "volunteer".

It may appear on the outside that I am an employee because I am very active in my organization of choice. I know 1st hand how and where the money goes and I like that Utah's money generated from banquets goes right back into dozens of projects throughout my state, not to mention I can physically spend those dollars working on the projects myself.

I post projects in the Utah forum, but unfortunately get very little feedback.
Projects can be found on their website, Facebook and Instagram platforms.

Along with project allocations I posted, the MDF also posts all of their financial business on their site for transparency.

Just keep posting and inviting people to participate Slam. Its all you can do. I read somewhere on here that people here just complain so they can watch others complain. I am not one of them although my first post made it seem that way. The bottom line is that all of us know that mule deer are in trouble and all of us that care should be doing everything we can to help...including making our kids aware and including them.

The fact that you're a volunteer and are this involved and knowledgeable is a testament to volunteerism. It makes us better humans. Thank you for what you're doing Slam. Please keep posting about the current collaring project. PM me if there would be an opportunity to bring my son and help in some way.

Moderator...thank you for keeping us on track.

Thanks Mike, that was very kind to say.

As for your willingness to participate in projects, the collaring projects I posted in the Utah forum has locations and dates along with the contact information for volunteers.

As a side note, it can sometimes be tough to get in on these projects because they are fun and very popular, especially for the DH hunters trying to acquire their hours.

If you see a project you'd like to help on, I advise to jump on it quickly so you are at the top of the list.

I sure wish I could hit more projects, but I am an average working man and I also have a bass fishing addiction that occupies a lot of my weekends. Lol

I am more of a proud "missionary" for the MDF ?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-19 AT 11:37AM (MST)[p]The MDF has an excellent rating from charity watchdog organizations. And more importantly, they do great work for a relatively small organization. I have been a member since 1997. Does the MDF sometimes do things or take a position I might disagree with? Yes. But name any organization in which that isn't true. The MDF is a great outfit. The only negative I have in relation to MDF is that more mule deer hunters don't join.
