Hey all you cat hunters! I decided to buy a Sportsman's Package this year and have a cougar tag that I wouldn't mind flling. I'm looking for some advice on cat hunting. I know dogs are probably the only way to go. I don't have hounds and I have never hunted cats before. Anyone have any pointers or areas to start. I have a few ideas where I've seen cat tracks just not sure where to get started. I'd definitely be interested in any advice or for tagging along on a hunt if you feel so inclined. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Where are you located.. N,S,E,W Central Idaho? I know of a big Tom roaming the hills in Eastern Idaho that needs whacked. He's been lurking too close to homes this year. I've seen him the last two years in the same area. Accessable by snowmachine, however last wind stom we had uncovered some of the ground. There is a local that has hounds that would be able to help get him. PM me for more info if you would like.

i live in meridian too. i know where 2 kittens are in their den.... want to shoot one of those?? lol. i should have when i saw them, but just couldnt do it. i did wait for momma but she never showed (at least i didnt see her).

Maybe look south of Murphy.
Cousin lives there, said she was down the road visiting a neighbor when a cat went walking right by the house.
No time to get a gun, but a couple days later a pair of yotes were walking the ditch bank and was able to break up their relationship with her 30-30.

Yeah I've heard the Owhyees have a few. I cut some decent sized cat tracks out there last winter while shed hunting and I've talked to a few guys that cat hunt out there. Thanks for the input!

I'll pass on the kittens....I'd like to find a big tom....as I'm sure every hunter would. But I think I'll hold out to shoot a big tom with my bow. Keep up the good work!
