Had a great day shed hunting with MattB and Steveo32. I believe the final total was 38 moose sheds. :)
Here's some As They Lay Pics

Here's a great matched set. It is 52 inches wide and gross scores 186. Not too shabby for a Southern BC Bull.

When you said moose, I was expecting huge palmated mule deer sheds!! LOL

Wow!!! You weren't kidding when you said a ton. That's very impressive. Don't believe I've seen anything like it. Looks like you ended up with some real great sheds. Congrats and thanks a lot for sharing.

BCBOY -
You have absolutely got to be kidding me?!
Those are AWESOME. Congrats to you all on a great day.
Thanks for posting.

A ton is exactly right!!! That's impressive!! I've never found a fresh moose paddle. The moose here are few and far between, and seldom reach decent size. One thing I do know is that I would love to find monster sheds like those!! Thanks for the post!!

Holly Buckets,
I'm building a new home, would you be willing to sell me a couple of those bones?
Hit me back here with a ya or nay.

Last spring, Steve and Matt and I picked up 30 sheds in one day in a different area. Didn't think we'd beat that but we did. :) I actually think it was my personal best shed day ever at 19. Was nice to pick up several browns and the big matched set is the highlight. I really like the folds he has. Here are some more pics of some of my bigger sheds from the day.

There must be a lot of disappointed porcupines in that neck of the woods! Man, that sure looks like fun (and a lot of work):)

LAST EDITED ON May-11-05 AT 09:06AM (MST)[p]OH...MY....LORD!!!!!!!!!!! That is the freakin coolest bunch of pics I've seen in a while. I've never had the hinkering for moose but that gets the heart racing!!

How in the crap do you carry those things out? When you find one or two I'd imagine you've got to make a break for the truck.

Thanks for sharing those killer pics man.

Wooha! Dana, you and the fellas found some absolutely incredible antlers. How did you get them all out? Did you leave many behind?

Hi Steve,
Wow!! I,ve actually looked for some moose sheds this year but no luck. I found a pretty good set of muley sheds but not much more.
I,ve been making table lamps out of sheds - they look great. Do you sell all the antler you get??
Might be camping with your Mom an d Dad this summer - just have to set a date.
Talk to you soon.

Carrying these things are quite difficult. I only had my Cruiser's Vest and no rope. Had lots of flagging ribbon so I lashed most of my finds together the best I could. Didn't look pretty but was able to get them to the truck in one piece.

Hey Teach,
How's it going? Haven't heard from ya for a while. Things have been going great for me. Been working hard but still getting time to play as well. Had a good shed season. Although I didn't pick up any sheds from the real big boys I was watching this winter. Seems they hid them on me. Sure they do it on purpose too. :) Did ya hear about the big bear I got a couple weeks ago? Measures 7'4". Skull green scores over 19. My biggest one yet.

My gosh, I'm going to be sick. Those are AWESOME. My Dad just drew a moose tag in Norhtern Idaho, so came on here looking for a moose fix. That works. Nice Spring bear too. That will be a few calves that will survive now.

Hi,
Saw your Mom and Dad yesterday. We were on our way back from a canoe trip on the Nazko Lake chain. It was great - too much wind, just a little rain, and enough sun. Any day out in the woods is definitely better than a day at school. I had a few kids from my Outdoor Ed 12 class so that justified my day off.
Fishing wasn't great - I thought it would have been better. The fish we did catch were full of food. Saw every kind of bird - pelicans, egales, osprey, red-wing black birds, king fishers, loons, humming birds, -not mamy animals though -one bear on the way in.
Your Mom and dad seem to be doing well. He was telling me about your new opportunity - sounds great!!
Nice bear. It looks like you are a long way up - was it a tough pack?
Take Care,
God Bless you and your family.
Al
