what is the earliest any of you have found moose palms??? I have found one on Jan 3 in my snowshoeing adventures.

KeeP in touch... ANTLER ADDICTION THERAPY GROUP on FB.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-22-11 AT 08:24PM (MST)[p]I'd be curious to know as well. Here in western Wyoming they're typically long gone before the May 1st opener. She'd poachers sure make it hard for the rest of us!

It's a good thing I live on the Idaho border:)

D@#n iPhone auto correct! It should read shed not she'd!

Here in Northern Utah the earliest I've seen was New Years day. I saw this particular bull the day before(still packin) and went back the next day and saw him with just one side, decided to not push him since he was still on that ridge. Came back the next day and he was gone so went up and found the palm. It had a big ol chunk of skull/bone still attached to the base. I found the other side few years later on the same area but it was in some chaparel so it was tough finding in years past.

Most generally the bulls around here lose from first of Jan(bigger bulls) to the end of Jan first of Feb even (smaller ones).

I'd post a pic but it looks like they changed how you post pics???

LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-11 AT 09:16PM (MST)[p]I seen a small bull shed an antler while sparring with another small bull in Nov. But I am sure it was a fluke considering they where rutting and his testosterone would have been in full swing. I never did go get his antler I wounder if its still there. I would amagine alot depends on location when they shed. When watching deer some will start shedding in mid Jan. and be done the second week in Feb. I could drive 40 miles to watch a differant herd and they dont start shedding tell the second to last week in feb and are all dropped by the second week in march.

Saw one bull this last week in Northern Colorado that shed his antlers. Big bodied bull too.

I've picked them up fresh with blood still on the bases as early as the 20th of Nov. Around here I find most of the bigger bulls drop in early Dec and the little guys dropping between Christmas and New Years. Some years I still see the odd bull packin the first week of Jan but by the end of that week they normally are all done.

(In Idaho) The bulls I watch start about Feb. I did see one end of March still packin.
