I am in a Dillema!
I am starting to plan my next Big trip and am torn between Dall Sheep and a BIG Moose!
The size of those big bulls or the Beauty of the Dalls!
I wondered what you guys would choose?

Take the sheep hunt. If given the choice, always choose a sheep hunt. Of course, I'm still suffering from a bad case of Ovis Pyrexia (sheep fever).

Hunt them sheep! your not getting any younger!
It's black & white, buddy. You can hunt moose when your 60. Hunt them rams while your young enought not to regret it!

Harry, go for the Sheep. Guess I would too, but would regret it for a long time and probably would ache forever. Oh what a beauty it would be on the wall though.

You have to ask??????? Hmmmm... let's see, a Dall sheep, sheep country, sheep fever, sheep hunting - or - Bullwinkle??? Hands down, take the sheep.

Ya know Hunter, that drawing for the Stone sheep/moose/caribou/grizzly hunt you and I obviously bought tickets for that they drew for the other night. In my day dreams of what if I was actulally the lucky winner I was thinking.. it'd be really hard for me to be gone hunting for three weeks at that time of year and I was actually thinking, take the Stone sheep and don't even worry about the other half of the prize. That's how little I care about moose, or should I say that's how MUCH I want to hunt sheep up north. Like I said, take the sheep, man! Take the sheep!

Harry,
Out of all the dilemna's in life I could think of for myself, that ain't one of 'em. Take the dall sheep.

NVbighorn,
I can't believe that you wrote EXACTLY what I'd been thinking for the last two weeks.

I'd definitely go the ram.
Looks like the dall sheep is headed for a landslide victory in this vote. Hope that helps you in the decision making process.

Take Both!
Plan a sheep hunt and buy a moose tag. get your trophy ram within a few days (5-7)then go a moose huntin. might bag a 65 incher. Thats what I call a great combo hunt.
spoke to a guy this year who just did that. Ram was 38 and moose was about a 65. nuff said.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-15-03 AT 06:24PM (MST)[p] It is kind of a matter of CASH! Alaska requires non-res to have a guide for sheep Canada for all species if you don't live there.
Dalls are $7000-$11000,Alaska-Yukon Moose are about the same!
I was considering an un-guided Moose hunt.
I really can't afford both if guided!
I am still having a tough time when I see those bulls with six feet of antler on their head!
I am going to the S.C.I. show in Reno next month, I will probably firm up my decision there!
Thanks guys for all the input!

No!
I like most everyone else, would like to have it all!
You have to work within your budget! I was curious as to what you guys felt was the more impressive trophy!
I will spend about$5,000 on an unguided moose hunt when all is said and done and I know I could probably get a cancellation sheep hunt for that or at least would be fairly close in price, and have been wrestling with the decision.
Money IS an object ...(unfortunatley)

My choice would be the Sheep Hunt. You can always apply for moose in the lower 48 and will be much cheaper. Atleast your hunt(Sheep) will be guided and will probably enjoy it more. I will probably never get to do neither but photographed Dall Sheep this past spring in Alaska and what a beautiful animal. The hunters that get to hunt Dall sheep, Stone Sheep, and Mountain Goats are the luckiest people alive. The scenery and experience alone would be worth the trip. Just my opinion.

Good luck on your tough decision.
