Bessy,

Forgot to ask you before and since it has been a month now, not sure if your memory is clear.
On Nov. 3rd which was a Thursday, were you at Cabela's down there in Lehi in the early morning before lunch time??

Remember seeing a rig out front with Altamount decal on the back and possible a front license plate frame too, got tired of standing outside in that cold wind so we left for COLO.

Hey Bobcat,

I use Montecs and I love how they fly, they're pretty easy to sharpen but.... If you ever screw up and hit another broadhead in your target... say goodbye to that one. I have put little nicks in them and they aren't hard to get out but if you flat out miss a target or a deer and hit a rock, its gone forever. I would highly suggest getting the practice heads. I haven't taken anything with one yet and I'm sure thats who your looking for info from but I'm sure they get the job done on fur.

Bess:

Both heads you've mentioned (Montec & Wac'em) are VERY relaiable heads that should perform well....even out of that old equipment. :) I've tested both thoroughly and really liked each head.

The Wac'em head flew a bit better for me, especially in tougher conditions (wind, etc.), but the Montec was pretty darn close. If you can re-sharpen tradional style heads well, I'd definately go with the Montec, as you can re-sharpen them as needed. If not, the replaceable blade option on the Wac'em may be the ticket. They are the real deal.....might be why they were sold out at Cabelas. Besides, they just might steer your arrow right into the Nomad Buck! :) Good luck.

Both heads work great. Took animals with both and they got the job done. I did shoot a bull last year with a montec that went right through the middle of a rib on both sides and out the other side. It held right up and probably could have sharpened and reused. But , this year changed to the easton axis shafts and got a whistle with arrow flight with the montecs, so decided try wac' ems with success both with flight and animal performance. Both heads are great in my book.

Yeah I shoot easton axis shafts and I get the same whistle. Do you think that'll make much difference??? I figured if a deer can hear that whistle, they've already heard the string. I had one jump the string back in Sep but I was using the Grim Reaper and caught him in the neck. Never did find that deer. Thats why I'm back to Montecs.

Donnie

I really don't have much string noise. as to date, I havn't had an animal flinch untill contact ;) So I really don't know about the whistle. But I do know I will take out all variables that I don't like.

I shot my Motecs the other night and its not so much a whistle as a hissing sound. Probably the same thing you're hearing. I don't have much string noise either but if it makes any sound at all a Muley WILL hear it. I think the reason my buck jumped is because he was about to run anyway, he had me pegged for at least 30 seconds before I took the shot. I took a shot at one last year and hit a branch and the arrow bounced under the buck and he didn't budge until the arrow hit the tree behind him. I'll keep the Montecs but I think I'm gonna try the WacEms next spring.

Donnie

this year i shot a mature bull at about 15yds
ribs on entry and exit and was stuck in a tree about
12 ycs farther.
best flying head ive used.

I have heard good things about both heads. I think I may try some Montecs this year. I have been shooting Rocket Steelheads the last 5 years and have had great success with them.
