Anchorage Health Department officials say the person who tested positive is an Anchorage resident and is isolating at home. Officials say the person did not require hospitalization, and was a close contact of a person who recently traveled out of state.

CA governor Newsom declared a monkey pox emergency which kind of makes sense.

They stopped giving smallpox vaccinations in 1972. Most people born before about 1966 would have had the vaccination, especially if they attended public school.
I think that includes most of the people on this site.
