Mississippi fishing. Got in the way of shed/turkey hunting

First time I have fished out of Gulfport MS. My brother lives in MS and has a Beach house down there with dock and boat house. Sweet set up, of course it was thrashed during Katrina and insurance is unbelievably expensive.
My Brother has these fish figured out and got us into big fish right away. After we limited on big fish (only allowed 1 redfish over 26") we went after drum, rays, trout and mullet for the eats.

My big red. Not a good picture. Got him off of shore on shrimp. Fought him for 30 minutes. He went 40" and 28lb.

Zach fighting his second big red. This one was a twin of mine. Also 28lbs and 40" That fish whooped my little man.

This is the small ray we caught. The big one I fought over 1 hour with 80lb test. Finally got him to the boat and saw it was a ray the tail came whipping out of the water and all i could think of was the crocodile hunter. That fish was bigger than the hood of a car and the tail must have been 5 feet long. Broke him loose.

Nice Drum, good eating. Had some blackened with Paul Prudohmes seasoning tonight. yum yum

Nice photo's, thanks for sharing. I live down here
on the Texas Gulf coast and the SW fishing is unreal.
I can't get to the mountians everytime I like but the
fishing keeps me busy until Elk Season. Congrats to
you and your son. There is nothing better than being

I told a buddy at work about your trip and it took him down memory lane. He used to raise reds for LSU in the 80s. He said their stock ponds would make a fisherman cry at the size of the fish...

More great times with kids... Love it!

Oh man, you're making me a little homesick for my Texas days when I used to make a trip to Port Aransas about once a month; wouldn't trade it for NM mountains, though. Great pics!
