Minox or Vortex bino's

I've finally got my brother commited to spending up to $800 on a pair of bino's. I can't convince him to spend an extra 500 to get the Leicas or Swarovskis and he's looked thru mine so he knows they are nice. I'm looking at the best glass for $800 and the Minox 10x43 hg($800) and the Vortex razor ($700) seem to fit the bill. I know very little about either. Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.Thanks
