Has anyone tried these or have any experiece with them? Camerland has open box units for 449.00 which seems like a good deal if they are all they seem to be?

What other binos would these compare too?

LAST EDITED ON Feb-24-11 AT 08:23PM (MST)[p]Sounds like the narrower FOV japan HG

The german HG and APO HG are better.

Its a very fine line between these and the China ED binos like the Zen Ray ED2 and Theron wapiti-these have better optics (brightness,FOV, diaelectric prism coatings) than the japan minox hg .The Minox will have better ergos and build quality.

Then there is the previous and new version of the Vortex viper to consider as well as the new Japan made bushnell elite ed (ed glass, diaelectric prism coatings) and the original Japan made bushnell split bridge (ed glass, diaelectric prism coatings, nice light magnesium housing) (EL styling)- bushnell elite which can sometimes be had for around $400.)discontinued in 2010. Pay no attention to the also discontinued elite e2.

Bushnell also has its own China made ED bino-the Legend Ultra HD, wide fov, ED glass but silver prism coatings instead of the slightly better diaelectric on the Elite ED. These run $300 or less.

Also you can pick up the first version of the Zen Ray ED for around $300 as well as the promaster infinity elx ED or Hawke frontier ED for around $300 also. These are all equal in performance.
