December of 2003 I was flying back to the mainland from Hickam AFB in HI. There was a slight delay in our departure, but no one on the crew seemed to care.
This guy was one of four souls who touched US soil for the first time in nearly 40 years.
LCDR Griffin didn't make it back either. This is his ID card as it rests in a Hanoi museum. I spoke with his widow several years ago. She remarried....to a guy who was a POW in the Hanoi Hilton.
