I'm considering these two bows. I know they are both top of the line. I will also shoot them both before deciding. The prices are about the same. Are there any mechanical and/or design features that give one an advantage over the other? My coinsiderations, in order of importance, are how forgiving the bow is, how smooth it is, and then its speed.

You are doing it right shoot them all the bows now days are equally as good. It comes down to preference and what feels the best I just bought the Switchback and am loving everyminute of it the most forgiving bow I have ever shot, but I have never shot a Bowtech heard good things though but which ever one feels more comfortabe is the one to buy.

I shot one today and I am thinking of getting one. It was the smoothest shooting now I have ever shot. Without a stablizer on it. No vibration. Nothing. I have shot the bowtech and my opinion is the Matthews will do better for you.But each has his own choice on Name brands.

Wyomuley gave you some good advice. The Bowtech is supposed to be little quicker (but not by enough to matter) but they are both GREAT PRODUCTS that are comparable in all respects, so choose the one you shoot or like the best. Enjoy!

Well, I went to the local toy store yesterday and fell in love. I couldn't possibly imagine a bow shooting any better than this sweetie so I walked out the door with Mrs. Matthews under my arm. I can't believe how bitchin the Switchback is. It is so fast but no recoil AT ALL. I put a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone rest on it with a Spott Hog sight. My only complaint is that the bow shoots so flat that my 20-30-40 yard pins are really close together. It will take some getting used to.

Bigpig, That's a horrible set of problems to have. A bow where you have to move the pins closer together with no recoil and it being brand new and all. Wipe that happy look off your face and get down to work!!! Enjoy!!

I went and put one on order today. Have to wait 7-10 days now. Cant wait to get it back and start shooting it.

A good vertical pin sight can make that set uop even nicer! The problem with close pins is blocking the view of the animal.

What did you decide on the bows (if anything)? I shot the Switchback and a Hoyt V-Tec the other day. I would have liked to have shot the Bowtech Allegiance since I have heard good things about it, but my archery shop doesn't deal much with them.
One more thing, the Switchback absolutly ROCKS!!! If I do get a new bow, the Switchback will be the one.

If you buy a Bowtech Allegiance, then you will just Switchback to a Mathews. By a Mathews and you will not regret it! The Switchback is the best bow I have owned.....and ask my wife, I have owned over 16 bows in the last 6 years. Like to have one or two around all the time. My other bow is a Mathews Q2.

I shot both and also the new hoyts and ended up with an Allegiance. The bow just shoots so smooth and yet it's still fast. In addition, and my Hoyt and Mathews friends agree, this bow is hands down one quiet bow.

I have shot both these bows, but at different shops and at different times. It is hard to tell which bow is the quietest. Have any of you shot each bow side by side to tell which one appears quietest.

When I bought the Allegiance I had shot those two and quite a few of the Hoyts side by side. It's been a while though so I couldn't accurately tell you which bow was quieter...they were both nice to shoot as was the Vtec but when it came down to decision time I chose the Bowtech.

I've had the opportunity to shoot both bows and like them both a lot. The Switchback felt just a little bit smoother to me and slightly quieter, but the Allegience is not far behind in those two categories and is smokin' fast. As far as accuracy, I felt that both bows were dead even, I was able to get comparable groups with both bows at the same yardages. With both bows set up exactly the same and shooting the same arrow the Allegience will shoot 15 fps faster, this is actual speed--not what they print in the brochures! I would probably take the Allegience over the SB based on the fact that it's much faster without sacraficing anything else.

My friend just purchased the Switchback yesterday. He shot it side by side against the Allegiance, Liberty, Patriot and some Hoyts. Before he went down to shoot I was certain he was sold on the Allegiance. It just goes to show you that it's all about what feels comfortable to the individual.

Done deal. I picked up my Switchback this afternoon. I put on a whisker bisquit, cobra sidewinder 5 pin sight, Sims Limbsavers, Sims string leeches, Sims stabalizer, Tru-glo peep. I bought a dozen Easton Axis ST arrows too, now I have to wait 24 hours till I can shoot it so the inserts can dry after having the arrows cut and reglued............AAUUURRRGGHHH that's gonna be a long wait!!!
