Just wondering what the going price is where you live for a Switchback?

$675 here and that includes 4.5% sales tax

Best deal I have found,

Archer

Just bought one here for $659 plus tax (8.25%). For that they include 3 tunings, 3 string reservings, and 10 times shooting at their range. Not bad all things considered

Out here in the peoples republic of Kalifornia, suggested retail means actual price (and doesn't include tax (8.5%)). Lx is 719.00, outback is 729.00, and switchback is 769.00. Can you say EBAY.

Wondered why folks were paying more for a used bow than I can get one new for.

Out here in AZ the prices look too much like those of Cali, HIGH. I bought my Outback on ebay brand new for $600. I took it down to the local archery shop and bought all the other gear I needed for the bow. Whisker Bisquit Rest, Mathews quiver, Dozens Carbon Express arrows, Copper John sight, Stabalizer. The guys at the shop were really cool, but when I told them I purchased the bow brand new off ebay for $120 less than they were charging, they got pissed. They wanted to know who I bought it from, because they were going to "turn them into Mathews and get their dealership shut down". They didn't get the name of the guy who sold me the bow. I thought this was strange, I mean this is America. The home of free enterprise. The guys at the archery shop told me I was messing with their livelihood. I didn't say anything, what I should have said is "No, you are messing with my livelihood."

They do push the bow shops to get near retail out of them and I don't have a problem with that.

Where I live most things are below average in price so I was wondering.

You guys need to understand something. These dealers sign agreements to market in exclusive territories and must follow the manufactures rules for selling their products. Mathews and Hoyt can and will shut somebody down for selling their products for below the agreed pricing structure. There was a shop in AZ that was selling the product for much less than retail and they took away their products. You can still get a deal on a package because they can discount the package. If you shop on ebay that's fine but don't go in there rubbing it in the shops faces or come warranty time you will be SOL. I can see your point but you must also see theirs because they are playing by the rules and getting smacked for it. It may be a free enterprise system but understand that it's regulated on the manufacturers end to keep the prices high on their products. It's just as easy to say you bought it someplace else and let it go at that and that way nobody gets offended and you're on your way. You may have saved $ 120.00 dollars on your bow but who's going to be there to service it when something goes wrong? It won't be the guy on the internet. We need to support these shops or they won't be around and then we'll be in a hell of a fix. It was great that you supported the shop by buying your accessories there. If you continue to frequent them as a customer I'm sure all will be forgotten and if you need them they'll help you out.

The Mathews dealer agreement also states that you cannot sell their bows through mail order or over the internet. The dealer had avery right to get "Pissed" after all he has a shop which means overhead. Joe Blow on the internet is stealing his customers, and expecting them to go to their local dealer for service. I am here to tell you archery shop owners do not make much money. They do it because they love the sport. However they still need to pay the overhead. Mathews does have a high and low range for selling their products, it protects the dealers margins. Have you noticed that all of the areas that have the higher pricing are in high rent areas, California, Colorado, Arizona? There might be a reason for that;)

From the last two posts, I see your points. I knew I would be having this bow worked on by these guys at the local archery shop and that's the sole reason why I purchased all the accesories there ($440). But I can understand why they would get upset about it. It's so tempting to buy the bow off ebay for so much cheaper.

RockyMtn, you didn't do anything wrong it's just how the system works. It's a shame that there would be hard feelings at all and this would be one of those cases where what they don't know can't hurt you or them. Hope everything works out ok.

What shop was it that got closed down? I bought my Legacy from a dealer that sold it to me for about $100 cheaper than what they usually sell it for. Wonder if it's the same one.........

LAST EDITED ON Mar-11-05 AT 01:01PM (MST)[p]They didn't shut them down just took away their product line. Let's keep names out of it but it's in a small town and let it go at that. They are still in business and archery is a side line to them.

I live in Littleton, Colorado. I grew up near there. Jesse got me started, he was very helpful to me as a kid.

The reason that I thought it might be LPA was Jesse never had very high overhead and could sell at or below what anybody else could. How long ago did you escape from "That very town"?

I've been in Mesa for about 4 years now. I don't really care for the town to much, but I loved having the luxury of the mountains not very far from home. I loved the weather too (except for the wind), moving down here took some getting used to.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-14-05 AT 05:36PM (MST)[p]Does anyone have a Name,Address,Phone Number for an inexspensive Mathews Dealer(Switch Back)!!! Good Luck Thanks Slider

If it's the dealer I think it is...the SOB still owes me a new cam. He promised to get me one when I bought my 2nd bow from him...after they "moved" I haven't been able to find them. Called the house phone, no anwser. I'm thinking it's the same one mentioned on the above posts. Urgh...PDUB

Well, I think it's pretty clear who we are talking about. His name has been mentioned & the initials to his shop. What more are you looking for?

If you are talking about LPA, it is important to note that the owner has a full time job, so he may be a little difficult to get ahold of. I have known him for nearly 20 years and I guarantee he will take care of whatever problem you might have.

I got my Switchback for free, being a shooter for Mathews Pro staff. But you need to keep in mind that these local pro shops that are being dogged need to make a living as well as the people that buy their products. I love my SB, it will be a long lasting bow. BTW, what are the numbers you guys are getting on your SB's? Mine is set @75 lbs, shooting a 420gr arrow @290 fps and hitting with 78lbs of ke. So, it's preforming great. And if I had to pay for it I would have no problem paying dealer retail price for it. The bow is well worth it.

I got a Switchback a couple weeks ago and it cost 699 for the bow before tax. It was 960 as a package before tax.
