Mathews Drenalin vs. Hoyt Vectrix

hey, I am new to this stuff, and I am in the middle of buying a new bow. Right I have a Reflex SuperSlam, and trying to sell it. The top 2 new bows that I have been looking at are the Mathews Drenalin, and the Hoyt Vectrix. I was just wondering if anyone has either of them and wanted to see what they think of them, or which one I should buy.
thanks. Buck_44/Erik Buchmiller

You need to shoot both and decide for yourself.
I much prefer the Drenalin over the Vectrix if you want my opinion.

I believe if you are somewhat new to archery, you should not look at the fastests bows out there. they are less forgiving because of the speed.

however, i belive since the mathews is a solocam, it would be the more forgiving of the two. buy which ever one shoots better for you. i would suggest starting with a heavy arrow and low poundage.

I agree with shooting both and finding the one you like! I have a reflex and loved it ,shot it for years.I figured it was time to upgrade and I shot both of them. Side by side they where both amazing bows, very forgiving and quiet! My reflex of course was made by hoyt and loved it! So I was stuck and didnt know what to do! I got the drenalin and im very happy with it.The only factor i came up with to make my choice was I liked the weight of it.It seems like my drenalin fully loaded weighs the same as the hoyt with nothing on it! Anyway shoot and decide, come up with your own reasons for buying rather than all the specs and other crap people try to persuade your decisions with! I would have been super happy with either bow. It's all about how it adapts to your style!

LAST EDITED ON May-29-07 AT 11:59AM (MST)[p]I would echo the statement "shoot them both and then decide." I have always been a Matthews shooter and when it came time to buy a new bow I was sure I would buy the Drenalin. It is lighter than the Hoyt, fast and quiet, but there was just something about the Vectrix. I ended up buying the XL which is 36 inches long. It's kind of crazy shooting a Hoyt after being on the receiving end of the Hoyt fantatics ribbing for years. Bottome line -- all good bows, but you have to shoot them all before making your decision. See which one you shoot the best, not which one is the lightest, shortest or the fastest.

LAST EDITED ON May-29-07 AT 07:17PM (MST)[p]You cannot go wrong with either, they are great bows, they both have advantages and disadvantages.. a few months ago I went into a local shop fully intending on purchasing a drenalin... I had done my research and knew which bow I wanted.. once I got there they had a drenaline and a vectrix set up and I shot them both just for fun... I personally liked the vectrix better, that lead me to shooting the vulcan and I fell in love... I currently own a vectrix, a drenalin and a vulcan and they are all great bows... this last year saw some really good stuff come out

as for being forgiving, there used to be a real issue with fast bows with low brace heights... they were less forgiving, in the last few years that issue is almost non existent...

I also have the Vulcan and I love mine. The brace height is a non issue.

Between the Drenalin and the Vectrix, I would go with the Vectrix because of the grip and the proven limb design. You won't have a problem with Hoyt limbs, yet they are still working out the problems with the new limbs on Mathews Drenalin and they have had too many failures in my humble opnion. I would either wait until next year to buy a Mathews with the slim limbs(because I have nothing against Mathews) or buy the Hoyt. With the Hoyt it is not a new design that still needs the problems worked out.
There is so much difference between the two grips, you will like one a whole lot better than the other. At least I did.

Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. Mathews and Hoyt both make a good bow, I'm just not sold on the new design from Mathews yet.

A family friend of ours has just started bow hunting and his very first bow was a Vectrix. He shoots as much as he can and is very acurate as a first time shooter with a very upper end bow. Like the other posts, testing both of them is your best bet and going from there. Good luck.

early to bed, early to rise, hunt like hell and make up lies!

Both Great Bows! Shoot them both like many people have said. The brace height on the new bows is much more forgiving than bows of a few years ago. Non Issue as stated before. I would try to shoot a couple Bow Tech bows against the two you have choosen also. Look at the Guardian and the Tribute. The Drenalin and Tribute are about the same weight 3.85 and 3.9 lbs. The Vectrix and the Guardian are both over 4 lbs. Any of these bows are excellent choices. Good Luck!!

Another Ford, Chevy, Dodge argument, I agree with what been said above. They are both great bows, go shoot them both and shoot what feels best to you.
