I just bought a outback with a 50 to 60 lb witha 28.5 draw lenght. To shorten the draw length do I need to buy a new cam. Any help with this bow would be helpful. I was wondering it's a discontinued bow do you think I could get parts for this bow.

How much are you trying to shorten the draw length? The best place to get a cam is on archery talk dot com. I have to spell it out or it will get edited out here. They have a classified section with a sub-section on cams. You might even be able to trade a cam with someone.

You do realize that you can go down 1/2" and take it to 65% letoff? I have an LX and prefer the way it holds with the 65%.

You shouldn't have a problem shortening your draw....unless of course your talking something drastic. I shoot an Outback and was fortunate enough to get it as a Christmas gift the year they came out. That wasn't that long ago, you should not have any problems finding or getting any parts for it if needed.

You could also go to www.mathewsinc.com

I would shoot that thing at 65% a couple times before you make your decision. At 65% you will have absolutely no valley at let off, I hated my Outback until Washington dropped the let off rules. At 80% the valley is perfect for my style of shooting. Back Tension shooters love the valley at 65% since they are pulling hard into the wall. I on the other hand need to find a point of relaxation at full draw and I couldn't do it with that cam. It is a good shooter, I used to shoot the 41" Conquest and I find the 31" Outback shoots everybit as forgiving as the longer cousin.

Any Mathews dealer can still order replacement parts, some of them will even give you trade in credits for your cam.

Thanks for the help and I'm very excited to get this bow. I have gone to Mathews site but was sure or seen where I could get parts. I should be getting the bow in a week so I will see where i'm at on length. thanks for the help

go to any Matthews dealer and they will either have them in stock or can order them for you.
If you can't find what you are looking for call Craig @ Fletch Setter's in Rainier, Wa 360-446-5632. He will hook you up
Hope that helps.

Nebo,

I have an Outback and it's blast to shoot. Very fast, quiet and hardly any vibration. I bought it about 2-1/2 years ago brand new and it's alreay discontinued. Mathews way of trying to talk me into spending another $800.00. AIN'T happening! (Well...not right away.) ;-) Great bow though.

Good luck.
